Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani was appointed as Group CEO of Ooredoo in November 2015.
Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani joined Ooredoo (when it was Qtel) in 1990. Since then, Sheikh Saud has gained a wide range of experience in internal communications, personnel administration, human resources and policies and procedures.
During his time at Ooredoo, he has served as Assistant GM Human Resources, Director of Internal Communications, and Executive Director, General Services. He has handled key projects like the restructuring of the organisation in 1998, the structure review in 2000 and the job evaluation and compensation review with Ooredoo’s auditors KPMG. In 2005, Sheikh Saud was appointed Executive Director of Special Businesses, which saw him and his unit handle Ooredoo’s cable television, payphone, yellow pages, directory and coast station services. In 2007, he was named Executive Director of Group HR. He was also a member of the Ooredoo Steering Committee for the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee.
Sheikh Saud became CEO of Ooredoo Qatar in 2011. He has led Ooredoo Qatar to build on its position as the country’s preferred communications provider and has supported the expansion of its product and service portfolio, in addition to making Qatar one of most successful and consistent markets in the group. Ooredoo Qatar’s strong market performance was illustrated by the 2012 capture of over two-thirds of Qatar’s overall market revenue growth, half of the mobile market revenue growth, and four-fifths of all new mobile customers – success that continued throughout his tenure as CEO.
He has held key positions across the Ooredoo Group, including Chairman of the Board for Ooredoo Kuwait; Deputy Chairman of Ooredoo Oman; and Board Member for Asiacell. He is also a Board Member for Arabsat; Board Member for Hellas-Sat; and Board Member for INJAZ Qatar.
Sheikh Saud has a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Western International University, in Phoenix, Arizona. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Waleed Al Sayed was appointed as Deputy CEO - Ooredoo Group and CEO - Ooredoo Qatar in November 2015.
Through his managerial and board duties at Ooredoo Group companies, Waleed has developed extensive experience in the information and technology sector, both in Qatar and the wider region. He was previously Chief Operating Officer of Ooredoo Qatar and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Ooredoo Tunisia; Chairman of the Board of Ooredoo subsidiary STARLINK – Qatar; and as Board Member of MEEZA (a technology joint venture between Ooredoo and Qatar Foundation). Waleed was previously Deputy Chairman of Ooredoo Algeria. He was also the Chairman of the Qatar Handball Team and a member of Ooredoo’s Football team. He holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration from HEC Paris with full honours.
Waleed joined Ooredoo Group in 1987 and has held managerial positions in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Strategy, Project Management, Communications and Customer Service. He was appointed as Executive Director of Group Communications in 2003. In this strategic role, Waleed was instrumental in putting a company-wide business plan in place with a clear strategy to significantly improve the organisation’s corporate image as well strengthening the company’s international and community relations standing. He also developed and delivered several Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that have positioned Ooredoo among the leading CSR supporters in the country. During this period, he was also instrumental in carrying out several successful campaigns resulting in Ooredoo (then called Qtel) winning many internationally recognised industry awards.
Waleed was appointed Executive Director - Customer Services in 2006 to establish a greatly enhanced and improved customer experience. During an important time following the liberalisation of Qatar’s telecoms market and the introduction of competition, he led the transformation of the company’s Customer Service Centres to become more retail sales and customer-oriented, with the aim of engaging with and getting closer to its customers. The new retail shop designs went on to win a worldwide award for the “Best Retail Shop Design” in 2009. His early achievements in this position were followed in 2010 by additional accolades and success, as Ooredoo won the highest number of honours at the “Contact Centre World Awards” held in the United Kingdom, where Waleed’s presentation won the Gold Award for Best Customer Service in the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) region.
In 2011, Waleed was appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Ooredoo Qatar. During a period of heightened competition, he led the business to continued growth, increased customer-centricity and a more dynamic business culture.
Mohanna Al Nuaimi has played a key role in developing Ooredoo Group’s HR strategy and operating model. In this role, he is responsible for Group leadership programmes and Global Mobility.
Mohanna is also a member of the Ooredoo Group Management Committee, and is a Member of the Board and serves on the Board committees of several Ooredoo Group operating companies.
Before being appointed as Group Chief Human Resources Officer in 2008, Mohanna had been Executive Director of Group Human Resources at Ooredoo Qatar, and Senior Manager of Human Resources Services and Policies of Group Human Resources at Ooredoo Qatar.
Before joining Qtel, Mohanna had worked as head of HRA and HRD, and as a senior engineer, for the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, from 1992-2005. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Qatar University.
Ahmad Al Neama was appointed as Group Chief Technology Officer for Ooredoo in July 2017.
Through his board duties and the senior positions he has held in Ooredoo Qatar, Ahmad has developed extensive experience in telecoms and network engineering, as well as B2C and B2B/ICT sales and operations.
He was previously Chief Sales and Services Officer at Ooredoo Qatar and continues in his roles on the Board of Directors for Ooredoo Oman and Ooredoo Silicon Valley.
Ahmad joined Ooredoo Qatar in 2004 and served in a number of roles, including Director of Demand and Project Management, and Senior Director of Radio Networks.
Ahmad holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver and has completed a range of educational and training programmes, including an HEC Leadership Training programme and courses in Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Electromagnetic Fields Control Systems Analysis and others.
Khalid Al Mahmoud manages a portfolio of six Small and Medium Businesses for Qtel Group: Wataniya Palestine, Bravo (Saudi Arabia), Wataniya Maldives, wi-tribe Jordan, wi-tribe Pakistan and wi-tribe Philippines. He is also a Board Director for the first five companies.
Before joining Ooredoo Group in 2012, he had served as Chief Operating Officer of Nawras, Ooredoo Group’s operating company in Oman, from 2005-2011, and of wi-tribe limited from 2011-2012. wi-tribe limited was a management company that supported Ooredoo's wi-tribe branded operations.
From 1989-2005, Khalid held numerous positions at Ooredoo Qatar, including Senior Manager of Product Management, Manager of Data Services (ISP) Business Unit, and IT Divisional Manager. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering-Computer Engineering from University of Pittsburgh.
Ajay Bahri has been Chief Financial Officer of Ooredoo Group since November 2007. In his role, he looks after Ooredoo Group’s investments, treasury, accounting services, financial systems and control, and telecom economics.
Ajay is also on the Board of Directors at Ooredoo Group companies including Asiacell, Raywood Incorporation, Wataniya Telecom Maldives Pvt Limited, and wi-tribe Limited.
Before joining Ooredoo Group, he worked for the professional services firm Ernst & Young, UAE-based communications company Etisalat, and chemicals and materials company W.R. Grace and Co.
Ajay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from India, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from MIT. He is also certified as a Chartered Management Accountant in the UK, a Chartered Accountant in India, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (non-practicing) in the US.
Mansoor Al-Khater is the Chief Strategy Officer for Ooredoo Group and has worked with Ooredoo since 2009.
As Group Chief Strategy Officer, Mansoor is responsible for driving the Group Strategy development and facilitation, cascading the Strategic Direction to the Group and Group OpCos, driving Strategy Communications, and identifying and tracking Key Performance KPIs to ensure optimum Strategy Execution.
Prior to this, Mansoor held the position of Chief Strategy Officer at Ooredoo Qatar, where he contributed towards the division’s Strategic Business Plan on an annual basis, facilitated the quarterly and yearly corporate performance reviews, and interacted with key stakeholders to enhance operational performance.
Mansoor has more than 20 years of engineering and business experience, including an eleven-year career at Qatar Petroleum.
In addition to this, Mansoor is a former Board Member of Arabsat and Al Jazeera network, a current Board member of Ooredoo Tunisia, a member of Qatar Museums Authority Board of Trustees and Qatar Academy School in Al-Wakra’s Board of Trustees, and a member of ‘Somod’ to represent Ooredoo in the National Resilience Committee.
In addition to attending a number of professional and industry training programmes in Qatar and abroad, Mansoor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Qatar University and an M.B.A from Hull University. Mansoor is also currently pursuing a Masters in Emergency & Disaster Management at Georgetown University.
Izzeldin Hamed appointed as the Group Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer on 21st February 2016.
Izzeldin joined Ooredoo Qatar operations in October 1992. He held the position of Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer since December 2011. Prior to that he worked in various roles in Legal & Regulatory.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Law from the University of Khartoum.
Christian Linhart was appointed Ooredoo Group Chief Procurement Officer in February 2016, after a successful period as Ooredoo’s Executive Director of Group Procurement.
Christian first joined Ooredoo in 2015 and has played a key role in the company’s ongoing organisational transformation programme, which aims to align Ooredoo’s local procurement and sourcing strategies more closely with its global capabilities.
He has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a procurement specialist, and in the last 10 years has secured more than 15 major procurement projects in the telecommunications space in three continents.
Before joining Ooredoo, Christian was Deputy Group CPO in MobileTelesystems (MTS). He also served on the Board of selected MTS operating companies. Prior to that, he worked in top-tier management consulting companies, McKinsey and A.T. Kearney, finishing in the role of Principal.
Christian has more than 18 years’ experience in the procurement field, and has received a number of significant industry awards, including a 2012 Global Procurement Leader Award, and the Russian Procurement Transparency Award, in 2011 and 2012.
He has a Joint Master’s degree in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany and he has also spent a year at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.
Hans Kuropatwa is the Group Chief Mergers and Acquisitions Officer for Ooredoo Group and has worked with the company since 2010.
Hans has extensive experience in the mergers and acquisitions area and has been actively involved in Ooredoo’s inorganic growth as well as the bidding for greenfield operations.
Prior to this appointment, Hans was the Acting Chief of Group Strategy.
Mr. Kuropatwa has more than 25 years of telecommunication experience and has held several high-level positions throughout his career including Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Sweden and Group Regional Managing Director of Vodafone.
Mr. Kuropatwa holds a B.Sc. from Imperial College London in Engineering and an M.B.A. from Manchester Business School in Business Administration.
Andrew Kvålseth was appointed Group Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo in September 2018. He is leading Ooredoo Group’s sales, marketing, and digital transformation activities globally.
Prior to his current role, Andrew was the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Digital Officer at dtac, a mobile operator in Thailand.
He was also the founder and CEO of Line Mobile, a digital mobile network service, done in collaboration with Line, the dominant social network in Thailand.
Andrew joined dtac from Telenor group, where he worked as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of M&A in Telenor Digital, and was on the Board of multiple Telenor Group companies. Before Telenor, Andrew worked in the private equity group of Bain & Company.
Andrew holds an M.B.A. with distinction from the University of Oxford.
