Purpose & Context

As the Ooredoo Group has now expanded operations into different markets, it is imperative for the role holder to provide valuable inputs into the overall commercial strategy and business plan of each operation as well as driving value through guiding the pricing strategy for the products/services in each market.

 

The Director - Consumer services role holder will be an industry specialist with specific experience in a mobile telecom operator in the area of loyalty, value management, pricing  and business modelling so that, profitability, CLV and effectiveness of our individual operations are maximized

 

The objective of the role is to drive actual impact at the operating companies’ level. Hence, extensive travel will be required, in particular (but not exclusively) in the Group footprint.

Role Accountabilities

Support the Executive Director - Marketing in developing the Strategy and Excellence as related to Consumer Services, including but not limited to the following areas:


Strategy

  • Drive and support the development of the Marketing and Product and “Big Data” Strategy for Ooredoo Group (through the commercial leadership team)
  • Monitor global and regional commercial trends: capture and share marketing best practices
  • Drive and support (together with OG Technology) the development of the techno strategy to support the marketing strategy and commercial objectives
  • If requested, guide OpCos on capability and organisation development – e.g. org design, recruitment support, training, processes, tools, etc.
  • If requested, review the OpCos marketing strategy and recommend/guide on opportunities for improvement in key areas

 

Performance Management

  • Drive and support the process of setting and monitoring key KPIs in OpCos in support of agreed commercial strategies as related to the Consumer segment
  • Support Commercial Planning function through review and validation of OpCo business and commercial plans as related to Consumer segment
  • Support and review OpCo commercial business cases for products, services, offers partnerships etc and ensure alignment to strategy
  • Act as the functional expert for matters relating to marketing across OG, as related to Consumer Services

 

Core and Data

  • Provide guidance to OpCos on product, pricing and segmentation to maximize returns (revenue and profit) on core, fixed, mobile and data products. 
  • Drive Data Monetization (revenue and profit growth) through the dissemination of best practices in data product, pricing and commercial strategy
  • Guide OpCos on fixed services portfolio expansion across the Group in line with Group and OpCo Strategy

Experience

 
  • Minimum 12 years proven experience in product management or business planning and analysis in a telco/mobile group, with a specific focus on commercial management and pricing.
  • Good knowledge of the sales and marketing operations and related strategies in a highly competitive market environment and in-depth knowledge in building a business case for pricing and promotional campaigns.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent team player traits with a proactive mind-set and has the ability to work across diverse markets and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills, deep understanding of cost models and financial implications of pricing decisions
  • Must be a commercial expert in mobile telecoms with previous experience of effectively challenging C level commercial managers in high revenue telecoms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree. MBA is a plus
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of Arabic and French is a plus
