Role and Context


As part of the new operating model, the key focus of the Ooredoo team will be to become an active performance manager. 

This means that the Ooredoo team needs to dramatically increase the focus and skills in the area of commercial analysis, business intelligence, commercial strategy and commercial planning.

The Commercial Strategy team will play a central role in this change and will drive planning, strategy, performance management for the commercial team.

It will also be responsible to drive specific strategic projects in line with our strategic objectives, in particular but not exclusively in the area of sales and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify key group commercial strategic priorities in line with the corporate strategy, design specific programs to address them and ensure that these programs progress according to plan.  Take a lead role in supporting the Group OpCo’s to define their commercial strategies and drive the commercial planning process across the Group and its OpCo’s.

Track the achievement of group and operating companies achievement against targets, design and follow action plans to correct under achievement when required

Role Accountabilities

Support the Head of department in the overall day-to-day management of the Commercial Strategy, Partnerships & Performance team’s activities as related to the assigned Region, including, but not limited to:

Support the definition of the Group commercial strategy

Lead the commercial planning process for the Group and all key operations of the respective Region, ensure timelines are met as per approved process

Ensure the commercial planning process has a clear link into the network and financial planning in coordination with finance and technology team

Support the CCO in the definition and management of the portfolio of commercial projects

Support and review OpCo commercial business cases for products, services, offers partnerships etc. and ensure alignment to strategy

Liaise with Group Strategy to review OpCo business and commercial plans and align on relevant performance targets and KPIs

Monitor KPIs for all OpCos

Check consistency of reports and ensure commercial performance is adequately reflected.

Support Group Planning & Performance Management in performance reviews and proposing corrective measures

Develop and provide specific analysis, reports and communications for key stakeholders including the Board, the MC and the Operating companies as related to sales performance

Review and validate CCO scorecards for the operations – ensure they are in line with the agreed plans and strategies

Experience & Essential Knowledge

At least 10 years  working experience a minimum of 8 should be in strategy, business planning, commercial planning and commercial related areas  preferably within a telecommunications company

Must be an industry expert in the area of mobile and fixed operator business planning.

Strong track record in strategic planning and commercial strategies in consulting firm and/or in a telecom operator

Very good knowledge of telecom environment at a senior level – experience in strategy and/or Commercial field in a telecom operator or consulting company

Excellent analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative skills)

Experience in managing large projects in complex environment (multi countries, cross functional, high impact, project management certification preferred)

Excellent functional understanding of key areas in telecom operators commercial teams (marketing, sales, customer care)

International experience, particularly in the MENA region

Ability to collect data, establish facts, and structure valid conclusion

Ability to interpret financial and technical reports

Extensive knowledge of the telecom industry

Experience in international/ emerging markets

Strong PowerPoint presentation and Excel modelling skills

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Economics or similar.

Master’s degree or equivalent in Commercial and Business Studies is a distinct advantage
