Role and Context

The role focuses on the financial investments and control of the Ooredoo business activities in SMBU (with a core focus on OG’s APACIG JV with Rocket) and in the area of synergies between SMBU and Ooredoo Group’s core business. This includes all aspects of financial and operational performance reporting for the business as well as support in financial analysis on business plans (e.g. for a venture in APACIG or other M&A type projects).

Financial Investment section within SMBU provides financial strategic direction to the division for special projects like Rocket Internet. The section defines financial control policies and financial management practices to ensure compliance with the relevant OG finance functions. It also ensures comprehensive financial and operational performance management and effective procurement for the project.

Role Accountabilities

  • Manages the AIH/Rocket Internet partnership
  • Drives the development of AIH integration plan and operating model
  • Drives the evaluation of the existing and planned AIH portfolio (management & financial evaluation), prepare recommendation (funding/ investment decisions)
  • Drives the AIH portfolio performance dashboard
  • Ensures financial reporting for AIH, in coordination with Group Accounting
  • Liaises with Group Strategy on Online Ventures plans and align on relevant performance targets and KPIs
  • Liaises with Group Legal and Group Corporate Governance on reviewing agreements and corporate documents within agreed SLA
  • Structures and carries out financial and strategic analysis and help develop presentations for senior management meetings (Board, ExCo, ISC, NBSC, etc.)
  • Drives the understanding, development and business models to evaluate online venture areas/models and make recommendations
  • If requested, acts as an internal consultant to help Ooredoo Group identify and pursue new opportunities in the online venture space
  • Builds up strong understanding of online venture analytics, i.e. KPIs
  • Further develops and builds internal working relationships at Rocket Internet, AIH and AIH portfolio companies
  • Shares market research, competitive evaluation and industry trends as inputs to the business planning process

Experience & Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of 12 years’ experience within senior finance roles with exposure to Planning, Forecasting, Investment Analysis with an understanding of medium terms investment opportunities.
  • Experience with Online Startups preferred
  • Ability to perform due diligence on M&A projects
  • Experience with planning and modelling tools and track record of implementing best practices
  • Bachelors Degree Accounting Qualification – CPA, CA, CMA, or similar


  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems including Planning/modelling tools.
  • IFRS expertise
  • Fluency in English is a must
  • Sound in-depth understanding of Financial Processes and procedures to international standards.
